My mom made this flannel and homespun quilt for her chiropractor, Frank Halter. [ http://www.halterchiro.com/ ]
Frank new bride has a very specific design style, so mom made him something for his den, or "Man Cave" as she called it. Turns out that his wife appropriated it.
Goes to show that cozy quilt know no design boundaries.

Orangecicle Roll Brim
I made my sister in law a scarf from this orange fluffy 10% mohair blend two years ago. My brother told me she wears is with an 80's style bomber jacket so I made her a matching hat. Just to annoy him.
Basic Watch Cap
I actually followed a pattern to the letter (except that I didn't switch to dpns until I only had 20 sts left). This was my first hat, ever.
Lion Brand, wool-ease chunky in "Charcoal".

Green Pepper Hat
Lion Brand, Wool-ease Chunky in "Grass" color.
Used a generic watch cap pattern (CO 64, K4,p4 ribbing for five inches, then p4,K4 for five rows, K4, p4 five rows and keep doing that for four inches, then start decreases until you have to switch to dpns, then do a few more rows and graft)
I see pictures of patterns and wing it.
